My son and I went into get an oil change for my Volvo. A bit hard to find especially if you are going off of Google maps. Better with the shops directions. Anyway, upon entering the office to check in, I was warmly welcomed. The man in charge was very nice and helpful. While I was waiting, any one of the staff that came into the office were so kind as well. A+ on customer service! My SUV was serviced and ready to go around the time quoted. Service Advisor (Jacob Harwood) patiently hunted down a hard-to-find car part for my 1964 Buick Riviera and Service Technician (Victor Hernandez) executed a lasting repair after another local shop tried and failed (twice!). I reached out to this shop for a collision repair that unfortunately happened in my driveway between my two cars. Without going into too much detail, one car clipped the other. It was the result of the driver still experiencing some jet lag from a late arriving flight a few hours prior. These things happen. Nonetheless, both parties were sufficiently freaked out by the accident that I sought out immediate relief. I happened upon a flyer I kept from a mailer for Academy Automotive 805. It was Saturday, so I had no expectation they would be around, but indeed they were and right up the street. We got a reasonable estimate that day and both cars were skillfully repaired within a week. I've been all over the Conejo Valley in the past 25 years in an ongoing search for competent mechanics and have found a few here and there. Coming from LA, my standards are pretty high. Academy Automotive certainly qualifies as one of the best and most professional full-service shops I have encountered out here, and as a result they will have our business going forward. Found these guys on Groupon when I was looking for oil change deals. Wasn't sure what to expect since a full synthetic oil change came out to only $40, but this awesome little shop has been the best car repair/maintenance experience I've ever had! I called ahead on a Saturday morning to make sure they could get me in and out without leaving the car. When I pulled up Bryce, the owner I think, knew exactly who I was by name from the earlier call. He was really cool and gave me the Groupon deal directly so I didn't have to buy it on my phone. The mechanic, Jesse, was awesome! He did a full inspection of my car and went through everything with me, explaining what was looking good, what work needed to be done, asking about the car's repair history, and showing me everything with a flashlight while the car was up in the air- really great teacher. I know NOTHING about car engines, belts, shocks, etc., but I do now! He even gave me a list with all of his notes, complete with really reasonable prices for the minor repairs I needed.
